Episode 41 - Maria Roman-Taylorson - "Coalescing for Hope"

Published on: Dec 11, 2024

Our newest podcast episode features Maria Roman.

We are so excited to have gotten the opportunity to talk with Maria Roman-Taylorson, who has been a leader in social services for the transgender community in Los Angeles for over 20 years. She was the first transgender person to become Program Manager for Transgeneros Unidas prevention program at Bienestar Human Services, one of the largest HIV prevention programs in the nation with an all transgender staff. In this episode, we discussed the current impending legal challenges for transgender people, the unique circumstances that trans folk deal with in terms of discrimination and setbacks, and she talked about having to make sure that in efforts to help the trans community, we have to look at the whole person. And of course, we also talked about trans joy.
